Too loud, too odd and with a secret passion for 1980’s music and anything that sparkles; not much taste! I can wiggle my ears, flare my nostrils and write with my toes AND have a truly whacky gift that is all my own. No-one else on the planet (that I’ve met or lives within a 12 mile radius of Barnet anyway) can do this and almost no-one know that I can do it.... until now.... I can dilate my pupils at will; make them bigger and smaller at my choice, can make them dance to music rhythms and really really spook people out. Mr N thinks I’m generally weird but this freaks even him out and he lives with my ‘weirdness’ on a daily basis. My dog thinks I’m normal, but then I feed him daily so he’s not going to rock the food fairy. Other than playing with various body parts, I love food, hate food, love films and am one of the 14 people in London that likes foreign arty films that are only shown in randomly obscure locations at 9:25am. However, I am deeply obsessed with zombie films and books and series and if it has the word zombie in it, then I’m a sucker. Um... what else? Fashion, trends, books (Ohhh... did I cry at the Life of Pi!), cooking, travel (come on... who doesn’t?), wine (a lot) and food. Did I mention food? Well, I meant chocolate.

London Fashion Week SS15 – The Highlights

London Fashion Week SS15 – The Highlights

I’ve been attending London Fashion Week for a few years now and every year the hype is that this season’s event will be more spectacular with higher attendance and this show was no different. No matter how many times I go, I still revel in the electric atmosphere and being around people that love fashion(…)

The Walking Dead Season 4

The Walking Dead Season 4

What was the most watched television show in February? You might think it was the opening ceremony of the Sochi Olympics, Jenny Jones’s iconic Bronze snowboard medal win or even the latest episode of the much loved Big Bang Theory. You’d be wrong. On both sides of the pond, one show stormed ahead in the(…)

A Pancake Recipe for Pancake Day

A Pancake Recipe for Pancake Day

I learned to cook with my mum and one of the earliest things she taught me was her pancake recipe and how to cook pancakes. I loved cracking the eggs, weighing out the ingredients but most of all I loved flipping them. I mostly missed the pan, decorated the floor and I had a devoted(…)

Wear Spring Summer 2014 trends without breaking the bank

Wear Spring Summer 2014 trends without breaking the bank

With adverts for diet, detox and summer holidays on TV through January and February, we can’t help but know that summer is just around the corner.  With constant rain over the past six weeks, flood misery and a brewing case of tonsillitis, it can’t come quickly enough for some of us!  So what will we(…)

House of Fraser Sneak Peak at Summer

House of Fraser Sneak Peak at Summer

Fighting my way through wet, grumpy tube travellers in the pouring rain to the House of Fraser sneak peak of their summer collection last week, I wasn’t expecting to feel summery, cheerful or to ‘Oooo’ and ‘Ahhhh’ like a teenager… But I did!  I went with my sister, a graduate of the London College of(…)

January In Season: Sea Bass Recipe with a Lemon Butter Sauce

January In Season: Sea Bass Recipe with a Lemon Butter Sauce

It’s hard to be inspired by seasonal produce in January if you’re not into hearty root veggies, game or slow cooking, however there is more to January than pheasant and cabbage.  Oranges are perfect now as are mussels, parsnips, beetroot and many types of fish including sardines, bass, bream, sole, mackerel, oysters and scallops.  Fish(…)

Sticky Strudel Buns Recipe

Sticky Strudel Buns Recipe

These delicious buns were the happy outcome of a mishap in the kitchen. My mother is Viennese and I grew up watching her effortlessly make apple strudel and I thought I’d give it a go. The messy result was a disaster but it gave me the idea for these sticky buns. Now I make them(…)

Best Christmas Day Gravy… Ever!

Best Christmas Day Gravy… Ever!

My imagination: Me wrapping tastefully bought presents, sipping homemade eggnog and writing Christmas cards while a huge real tree sits elegantly (and colour coordinated) in the corner with twinkling matching John Lewis lights. Reality: Me huffing around Tesco’s prepared to kill for the last pack of chestnut, sending last minute emails apologising for the fact(…)

British Fashion Awards 2013

British Fashion Awards 2013

Last week the British Fashion Awards 2013 were hosted at the London Coliseum, where emerging talent and industry greats were recognised at a black tie extravaganza, hosted by comedian and presenter Jack Whitehall. Unsurprisingly Christopher Kane won the coveted Womenswear Designer 2013. His AW13 collection shone amongst strong talent and his crushed velvet delicately designed(…)
